Directory submission services for SaaS: what they cost and how to choose
Hire a service, do it yourself, or use a tool that fills the forms in your own browser. What each option costs, what to check before you pay, and how AgentLaunch works, hosted or self-hosted.

If you search for directory submission services for SaaS, you get a wall of offers: "we'll submit your startup to 100+ directories", "300 backlinks in a week", "done for you in 48 hours". Some of them are good. Some of them sell you a list of sites nobody visits.
This guide explains what a directory submission service actually does for a SaaS product, what it costs, what to check before you pay, and the three ways to get it done: hire a service, do it yourself, or use a tool like AgentLaunch that does the form work in your own browser.
What a directory submission service does
A directory submission service lists your product on startup, SaaS and AI directories. Think Product Hunt, BetaList, SaaSHub, AlternativeTo, G2, Futurepedia and hundreds of smaller launch boards.
For a new SaaS product, those listings do three useful things:
- Discovery. People browse directories to find tools. A listing on the right ones puts you in front of buyers who are already looking.
- Links and mentions. Many listings link back to your site. For a brand new domain, a few relevant links help search engines find and trust you.
- AI visibility. Assistants like ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity read these sites. Being listed in the places they read makes it more likely your product comes up when someone asks for a tool like yours.
What directories don't do is guarantee rankings, traffic or sales. Every directory decides for itself whether to list you, and not every listing gets indexed by Google. Anyone who promises a fixed outcome is guessing.
The three ways to get listed
| Done-for-you service | Do it yourself | AgentLaunch | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | Usually $140 to $499 per product | Free | $39 per product, or $149 to self-host |
| Your time | Almost none | Dozens of hours | About 10 minutes of setup, then short check-ins |
| Who fills the forms | Their team | You | A Chrome extension, in your own browser |
| Accounts it creates | Varies by service | Yours | Yours |
| Copy for each directory | Varies by service | Whatever you write | Written for each directory |
| Pace | Varies by service | Whatever you manage | 10 a day by default, never more than 20 |
| Proof of what happened | Usually a report | Your own notes | A status and live listing URL for every directory |
None of these is wrong. The right pick depends on how much you want to spend, how much control you want, and how many products you launch.
Hiring a done-for-you service
You pay once, send your product details, and a team submits to their list. It's the least effort for you.
The trade-offs are control and visibility. You may not get to choose every directory, you don't see the forms being filled, and listings can go out within a few days using very similar descriptions. Some services also create accounts under their own email, which makes it harder to edit a listing later.
Doing it yourself
Free, and you control everything. It is also slow. Finding the directories that are still alive, reading each one's rules, writing a description that fits its format, creating an account, filling the form and then remembering which ones you did takes most founders several days of work.
Using a tool that fills the forms for you
This is where AgentLaunch fits. You keep control of the accounts and the copy, but the repetitive form work is done for you. The rest of this post shows how it works.
What to check before you pay for any directory submission service
Whichever route you choose, these questions separate a useful launch from a list of junk links:
- Can you see the directory list before you pay? A real service shows you exactly where your product will go.
- Are the directories relevant? A SaaS product belongs on SaaS, startup and software review sites, not on local business listings or web design galleries.
- Are the sites alive and real? Many "directory lists" are full of dead sites and link farms that exist only to sell listings.
- Is each listing written for its directory? The same paragraph pasted 100 times reads as spam to people and to search engines.
- Is there a sensible pace? Hundreds of listings in one day doesn't look like a real launch.
- Do you get proof? You should get the live listing URL for each directory, not just "submitted".
- Who owns the accounts? If you ever need to update your pricing or logo, you want the logins.
How AgentLaunch works
AgentLaunch is a directory submission tool for SaaS, AI tools and developer products. You give it your product's website. It writes listing copy for each directory, and a Chrome extension fills in the submission forms in your own browser, using your own accounts.
1. Paste your website and check the brief
AgentLaunch reads your site and drafts your product details: name, tagline, descriptions, product type, pricing, features and a logo and screenshots where it can find them. You fix anything it got wrong. Nothing is submitted at this step.

2. Choose directories, budget and pace
AgentLaunch ranks its catalog for your product type, so an AI tool starts with AI directories and a developer tool with developer directories. You pick how many directories to include, whether to stay on free listings only or set a budget for paid ones, and how fast to go.

The default pace is 10 submissions a day and it never goes above 20. You can spread a launch over a few weeks, set a start date, and pause at any time.
3. The extension fills the forms in your Chrome
The Chrome extension opens each directory, fills in the form with copy written for that site, and submits complete free listings on its own. Because it runs in your browser, it can use the accounts you're already signed in to, and every account it creates is yours.
4. You step in only where you have to
AgentLaunch is browser-assisted, not fully automatic. That's on purpose. It stops for the things only you should do:
- passwords, two-factor codes and recovery codes
- CAPTCHAs
- payments (it never enters card details)
- email codes it can't read
- the final publish step on Product Hunt and other major launch platforms
Everything else, like optional fields, odd form layouts and account pickers, it works through by itself.

5. Track every listing to a live URL
Every directory gets a status: Needs you, Submitted, Pending review, Live and so on. A directory is only marked Live once there is a public listing URL, and you can check whether the link to your site is dofollow.

397 directories, checked by hand
The biggest problem with most directory lists is quality. We went through more than 2,700 sites and kept 397: launch platforms, SaaS directories, AI tool directories, software review sites and developer tool lists. We removed dead sites, link farms, agency directories, job boards, design galleries and anything that isn't a place where people find products.

You can browse a free sample of 50 on the directory catalog before you buy.
Pricing: hosted or self-hosted
AgentLaunch has two one-time plans. Neither is a subscription.

- Hosted, $39 per product. Runs on agentlaun.ch with nothing to set up. AI costs are included. Best for founders and marketers launching one product.
- Self-Host License, $149 once. The full source code, the Chrome extension, the launch agent and the MCP server, in a private GitHub repo. You run it on your own Railway account with your own AI key, and every account on your copy gets unlimited launches.
Directory fees are separate on both plans, and paid listings are always your choice. You can run a whole launch on free routes only.
A self-hosted directory submission tool for agencies and developers
If you launch products often, or you run launches for clients, paying per product adds up. The Self-Host License is built for that.
You get the code the day you buy: enter your GitHub username on your account page and the invite arrives straight away. Setup on Railway takes about 30 minutes with the self-hosting guide, and you don't need an email service to sign up or log in. We publish updated directory data about every three months, and you pull it in with one command.

You can use a self-hosted copy for your own products and to run launches for your clients, as long as you operate it yourself. You can't resell the code or give clients their own logins.
Which option should you pick?
- You want zero involvement and have $150 to $500: a done-for-you service. Ask for the directory list first and check it against the questions above.
- You have more time than money: do it yourself. Start with the free sample of our directory catalog so you don't waste time on dead sites.
- You want control of your accounts and copy without the busywork: AgentLaunch Hosted for $39.
- You launch several products or work with clients: the AgentLaunch Self-Host License for $149.
Frequently asked questions
How much do directory submission services for SaaS cost?
Done-for-you services usually charge between $140 and $499 per product. Doing it yourself is free but takes days. AgentLaunch costs $39 per product hosted, or $149 once to self-host with unlimited launches.
Are directory submissions still worth it for SaaS in 2026?
Yes, when the directories are relevant and alive. They help new products get discovered, earn their first links and show up in AI assistants. They are not a shortcut to rankings on their own.
Is AgentLaunch fully automatic?
No. It writes the copy, fills the forms and submits complete free listings for you, but you step in for passwords, CAPTCHAs, payments, email codes and final approval on major launch platforms.
How many directories should a SaaS product submit to?
Quality beats volume. A good starting point is 30 to 100 directories that match your category, spread over a few weeks.
Can I run directory submissions for clients?
Yes. With the Self-Host License you can run launches for your clients on your own copy of AgentLaunch.
