Methodology
Forms. Signed-out submit forms of 108 directories were fetched and parsed for labelled fields and maxlength attributes in October 2026. Forms that only render after sign-in or with heavy JavaScript are missing from the field counts.
Flows. Our submission agent walked each of the 352 directories' submit flows in a real browser in September 2026 and recorded accounts, email codes, external forms, media uploads, CAPTCHAs and the final screen. It did not pay, solve CAPTCHAs or accept terms. Directory facts as in our launch directory statistics.

What do directories ask for when you submit?
Most ask for a URL, email and product name; many also want a description, category and tagline.
How long should a directory tagline be?
Write a version under 60 characters: it fits Product Hunt and the shortest common limits. The median limit we saw was 160.
Can submissions be automated?
Most steps can. About 44% of flows still needed a person for a CAPTCHA, payment or approval.
