Each product page lists alternatives ranked by user likes, with reviews, features and platforms, so a listing puts you on your own page and, if users add you, on competitors' "alternatives" pages. It also runs crypto tools (including a widely used Fear & Greed Index), which account for part of its traffic.

Step 1: create an account

Sign up with your email. Alternative.me's guide says submission "is generally open to everyone. However, a user account is required to create new entries."

Step 2: submit from your dashboard

From your account dashboard, click Submit new software. The dashboard also lists your previous submissions, which is where you'll edit them later. Have these ready:

• Name and short description. The homepage lists recent additions with roughly a 100-character teaser, so front-load the key words: "SMBImg is a web app that helps you create screenshots and convert images…" is the pattern.
• Website, plus the platforms and pricing model, if the form asks for them.
• The alternatives you replace. This matters most. Alternative.me's value is in "Alternatives to X" pages, so naming the well-known tools you replace gets you onto pages people search.

Step 3: suggest yourself as an alternative

Alternative.me also has a Suggest Alternatives function. After your listing is live, go to the pages of the 3–5 best-known products you compete with and suggest yours as an alternative. Those pages carry the traffic.

It depends on the section. On 5 October 2026, the Visit Homepage link on Notion's software page was rel="nofollow", while the same button on several Discord bot pages had no rel (followed).
