What is People Also Ask?

People Also Ask (PAA) is a Google results box listing related questions that expand to show a short answer from a web page, with a link. Clicking one loads more questions. PAA shows what else people want to know about a topic, which makes it a free source of questions to answer on your pages.

Using PAA for research

Search your main topics and open the PAA questions; each click reveals more. Collect them into your topical map. They're real questions Google associates with the topic, often phrased exactly as people ask AI assistants.

Appearing in it

PAA answers are extracted like featured snippets: a heading matching the question and a direct answer right below. FAQ sections and glossary pages often supply them.

Example

For "product hunt launch", PAA shows questions like whether it's free, what time launches start and how many upvotes you need. A guide answering each under its own heading appears in several PAA boxes.

PAA questions are a good proxy for the follow-up questions people ask AI assistants. A page that answers the main question and its common follow-ups, each under its own heading, gives both Google and AI engines more passages to use.
