Is BetaList worth it? Cost, wait times and how to submit

BetaList is a directory of early-stage startups. People sign up there to try products before everyone else, and a daily newsletter sends new startups to its subscribers.

Is it worth it? For a pre-launch or just-launched startup, yes, as long as you plan around the wait. Submitting is free. The catch is the queue: three startups we submitted were featured 3½, 7 and 9 weeks after we submitted them. If you want to be seen sooner, BetaList sells a Boost: $99 a week or $199 a month at our September 2026 check.

How long BetaList takes: our own numbers

Here is what happened with three startups we submitted through BetaList's free route:

All three were accepted and featured. None of them needed to pay. But if your launch plan says "BetaList on Monday", it will not happen on Monday. Submit early, ideally while you are still in beta, which is who BetaList is built for anyway.

What BetaList's Boost costs and what you get

Boost is for startups that are already featured. At our check it cost:

• Weekly: $99/week, cancel anytime
• Monthly: $199/month, cancel anytime (billed monthly)

Both get your startup into the "Boosted" section on BetaList's homepage and a slot in the daily newsletter, rotated among the other boosted startups. BetaList labeled the prices as introductory, so expect them to change.

Boost does not skip the review queue. You still have to be accepted and featured first.

How to submit to BetaList, step by step

1. Make sure you fit. BetaList wants early-stage startups: something new that people can sign up for or try. Agencies, templates and mature products are a poor fit.
2. Prepare your assets. A name, a one-line pitch, a description of the problem and who it is for, a clear screenshot, your logo and a link to a page where people can sign up.
3. Create an account on BetaList and go to betalist.com/submit.
4. Fill in the submission. Write the pitch for a curious early adopter, not an investor. Say what the product does in the first sentence.
5. Submit and wait. Your dashboard shows each startup as started, submitted, reviewed and featured. Ours took 3½ to 9 weeks.
6. When you're featured, check the startup page, click through to your site, and add the URL to your launch tracker. Decide then whether a Boost is worth it.

Is BetaList worth it? A plain answer

Worth it if: you are pre-launch or newly launched, you want early adopters and feedback, and you can wait a month or two. It is free, the audience is exactly "people who try new things", and the listing sticks around on a DR 76 site.
